The architecture competition announced by Vastint Latvia SIA in May of this year – for the first two office buildings at Magdelēnas kvartāls, providing 8600 m2 of modern office space and 1400 m2 of commercial space on their first floors – has closed. The goal of the competition was to receive the best possible metropolitan architectural designs which would also respect the laws concerning the conservation and protection of Riga’s historical centre.
The developer of Magdelēnas kvartāls, Vastint Latvia, has announced an architectural design competition for the first two office buildings to be built in the quarter. Located in the “quiet centre” of Riga, the buildings will provide 8600 m2 of modern office space and 1400 m2 of commercial space on the buildings’ ground floors.
The first topping-out ceremony was held at the Magdelēnas kvartāls building site on 3rd March to celebrate the achievement of the highest point of the buildings and the completion of major construction work in the first residential buildings. They have now taken on a completed appearance.
On February 14, 2017, the Rīga City Construction Board approved a detailed plan for the development of the Magdelēnas kvartāls, submitted by Vastint Latvia.

Idea competition for new residential building in Magdelēnas kvartāls completed
During a ceremony on 21 July, a time capsule with a message for future generations was embedded in the foundation of the first round of Magdelēnas kvartāls.
